Huckleberry

There are some things you have to accept if you raise animals:
1)Life

2)Death
3)health
4)sickness
5)rich or poor
Does it sound like a marriage proposal, hmmm?

"To have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward till death do us part."

Yup!

We've had a few wake up calls recently... what are those anyway? "Wake-up calls" are the things that make you go hmmm? Like: Why are you hunching? Why are you shivering in 70 degree weather? What is that smell emanating from your hoof? Should your eyelid be dangling like that? Did you really think you wouldn't get stuck? Should I glove up and go in? Why were you dancing around on the metal roof anyway? Et cetera.
The face of innocence. These are the faces that make you forget those moments and laugh. I'm glad I have them.
This is Banjo and Huckleberry, you know them. They came to live on the farm 2 1/2 years ago and at that time we married them... yes, we did!
Over time they've earned merit badges...
"Badges? We don't need no stinking Badges!"
Well, your getting them anyway because you make life on the farm a better place.

Disclaimer: All of our critters make life on the farm a better place... some are just special.

Huckleberry was special. It is hard to paint a picture of Huckleberry. If I had to chose it would be something resembling a buddha/goat.
Huckleberry was always kind. He welcomed all to the farm equally. He made sure everyone had a place and felt loved.
Huck was an exceptional Uncle. He taught Shane and Willow to play nice and to be kind.
Huckleberry was the best brother a goat could ask for. He was always beside Banjo to inspire mischief and camaraderie.
Huck never got into trouble. He was the only one that didn't indulge during the "Great Escape" and he was the only one that didn't suffer the consequences either!
Huckleberry always lagged behind on walks. It was part of the little game we'd play. I'd sing to him, "Huckle-berry... where are you?" I'd pretend to not see him and spy at him through the brush. He knew I could see him and he was grinning. He'd wait till I sang to him two or three times then come running to catch the herd.
If Huck saw Arlen in the yard he wouldn't leave the gate until Arlen went on the walk with us all. They were best buddies.

Huck never pushed his way to treats, he just hung back and we'd sneak his to him when the others weren't looking. He never liked the riot of food times.
We will all miss you, precious little goat!

"If tears could build a stairway,

and memories a lane.

We'd would walk right up to heaven,
and bring you bring you back again.

No farewell words were spoken,

not time to say, "Goodbye".
You were gone before we knew it,
and only God knows why.

Our heart still aches with sadness,
and secret tears still flow.
What it meant love you-
no one can ever know.

But now we know you want us
to mourn for you no more;
To remember all the happy times,
life still has much in store.

Since you'll never be forgotten,
We pledge to you today~
A hallowed place within our hearts
is where you'll always stay."

Follow The Red...

We moved the "Brooder Shack" to the back of the shop. 1) Because broiler chickens stink really bad and moving the operation behind the shop will help the ambiance on the deck a lot. 2) Brooder Shack blocked the view of the... well, back 40! 3) We needed a new C.B.Q.H.Q (Chicken, Bunny, Quail Head Quarters). So.... follow the red coat to the new digs!
Red Coat
"Load Up!" doesn't just apply to dogs in the vehicle.
"Move It!" doesn't just apply to cowboys herding cattle.
"Land Ho!" doesn't just apply to the ship's captain's report.
Seriously, Lady?
