Faucepocalypse

So here's a sneak peak of the faucet. Turns out that faucets cost about $150 to $200... for your average faucet that is. You can find a cheaper faucet but they are pretty chincy. However, if you dig around in the world wide web you can find comparable prices for a sweet faucet. It's a little over-kill but I predict it will get a lot of use.

Side Note: It's a little wonky because we loose fit it for the picture. We want to finish the window trim and put in the backslash before we install the faucet.

Dig the view

Although, I'm super psyched about the cabinets being in and complete with doors and drawers, not to mention the too-cool-for-school cosmic black, granite counter top! This isn't just a picture of our half done kitchen remodel. It's a picture of what I get to look at when I do the dishes!! Check out those views!!
Also:
The vocabulary word of the day is "movement". I'm not sure what the definition is but its used to describe the pattern in stone counter tops. "Our counter top has a lot of movement"! It's true too, it looks like a lava flow... Pahoehoe lava, not A'a lava

The Journey To The Big Tree

After Arlen shoveled the path and with a little grain to encourage them, they are on their way to the place of worship... The Big Tree.

The Kids Get New Digs

The kids were hanging out in the old dog house, converted to broody chicken house then goat house. As time went by the ammonia odor emanating from their house was getting stronger. The wood bottom was absorbing all the tinkle from the kids and smelling pretty ripe. I figured it was time for an upgrade....
The upgrade

The upgrade got an expanded metal bottom so all the tinkle goes through to the ground. A nice bed of straw will keep the wind from blowing up their skirts. We used mostly scrap material from around the shop and house to build the rest. The roof was leftover from the chicken house (all but a small piece) and we had to buy six 2x4's for the frame. The cedar siding came from the mobile master bedroom! Hee Hee!
Expanded metal is awesome!

Lucy and Buck Buck check out the digs first
Huck and Banj want in on the action. Think four can fit in there?

We'll never know, Huck went under!
Load up! Taste great too!
The Boys say its PERFECT!
Okay, the show is over, go home!

The Travelers and The Trail

A look out the window today showed that it snowed... A LOT! Great excuse to make a trail to the Chicken House. I love to make snow paths to wander. Some paths are trodden in, while others shoveled. Here are some of the paths made today and some of the travelers on them.

Beauty And The Beasts

Everything is clean when it snows!
I love it when I wake up to snow!!! This morning I got a free boost of energy from the universe with a pretty picture (makes cleaning the goat stall nice).
BUT... before we clean stalls... its fun, romping, debauchery in the snow! Poor little Banjo ruff-housed too much last night and got a boo boo on his left horn nub. I think its sore because when I tried to clean it this morning he got really really vocal and then refused any snuggles for half an hour. Also, he didn't harass the B'geezus out of Lucy and back down from all Huckleberry's challenges.
She's up to something, I can tell, she's being super nice.
Huckleberry is just fine with this as he is the most chill little goat on the planet. He's the yin to Banjo's yang. The best little smiling goat a goat-keeper could ask for. See!

Huckleberry trudging through the snow like a champ! He knows Banjo is down today and has taken over the lead to help out his brother.... Or, he's over the snow and wants to be first in the barn!!
Lucy wags beside and behind for now, but some day she will lead this rag-tag bunch of cutie pies. Can you just picture her with a tiara? She has an imaginary one on her head all the time, she even sleeps with it. The only time it's removed is when she is about to butt Mesa (the dog). Can't be denting and bending her tiara now!

Here is "Buck". He is a buck. A buck is a male goat that is still, ehem, in tact. His name isn't "Buck" but his breeder hasn't named him and said to call him whatever I like. "Buck" it is and it does indeed suit him. Buck is a Nigerian Dwarf just like Banj and Huck. Lucy is a Nubian. What happens when a Nubian doe and a Nigerian Buck have a date? They make babies duh!! Their kids will be "Kinders" or "Mini-Nubians". Either way they are pretty darn cute. Lucy is too little to mate with a full sized Nubian so I figured l'd keep things on the little side. Nubian and Nigerian goats both have rich milk and make great cheese and kefir.
This here is some great grub you got!!
Lucy doesn't think the idea is that great... see the pouty lips?
He is so not my type, OMG!
I'll have to fill her in on the etiquette of dating over the next couple weeks. Right now she is pretty much turned off by his smell and presence, but I know she will grow to appreciate his qualities... on January 25th to be exact! In the mean time... it's going to be attitude all the way down.
"Hey seriously, the little dude smells, okay!

The Wall II

So.... I felt some separation anxiety with the bar wall going up, like the nice big roomy feel of the main living space was getting pinched. Now that the cabinets are in I'm just all giggle'y and shit!! It's like "Now you see it, now you REALLY see it"! Watching a kitchen be born just makes me tear up!

The Wall!

Be suspicious of those who always have a smile and a cheerful disposition. I would know I am "Mrs. Can'tStopSmilingIfAnyoneIsWatching"! Take it from the suspicious one, there's plenty to get ticked off about... especially the wall!!

I have about 20 photos of the wall they all look very very close to the same photo. The difference is about, oh I don't know, HOURS of dry wall labor!!! [insert me here with great smile]

So, we're a little insane and have taken on the kitchen remodel with the aid of YouTube. Don't cringe you can learn a lot if you know what you are looking for... and at. Our adventure started with a list. This list is... simple. Look and see!

1) Pull up carpet to sub-floor.
2) Move all outlets and light switches to counter height.
3) Install new light fixtures.
4) Fix drywall, re-texture and paint
5) Build and put up "pony" wall for bar and cabinets.
6) Install cabinets
7) Install Counter top and bar top
8) Plumb for water and gas.
9) Lay tile floor
10) Hook-up stove and fridge.

Like I said, "Simple"! There's only ten steps, right?! Psh!

As you can see from the photo we have accomplished through step 5. I guess that means we are half way there! Whoo Hoo!

Other than a few, "What the hell? That looks like crap!" ... everything is going forward (I'll go back and fix those outlets later).

All sarcasm aside, I'm pretty excited about the progress.

Stay tuned!

"Are You Waiting For Armageddon"?

Mesa rolled in poop!

A guy stops by to check out the Intrepid wood stove we're selling and he looked like a local with all his face hair and craptastic little pick-up. But his digs were pretty and probably cost a pretty penny too. I assumed "poser" right away but he was semi-friendly to Mesa upon exiting his vehicle. However, the chic was standoffish. I didn't want Mesa jumping on them smelling like poop... I called her back and took her inside.

So, the first thing he says is "Are you waiting for Armageddon"?

Really? .... Really? .... Huh?

I never thought of our place as a hillbilly outfit even though I tease and call it that occasionally. Turns out the dude is from Vermont and not a local at all. I wonder if there are many folk in Vermont waiting for Armageddon?  I wonder if people in Vermont waiting for Armageddon have chickens and goats.

.... and yes that is our chicken coop.

... Someone was sleeping in my bed and they are still THERE!

So, I noticed these eyes staring at me from under the blankets!
