When I was in my very early 20's I was fascinated with dreams and their meaning. I'm not sure I ever learned what my dreams meant or currently mean. I do remember a vivid dream from back then that I interpreted as a vision of what contentment, comfort and peace would look like.
I was in a house that had two levels, the main floor and the downstairs basement. The main floor was dysfunctional like a piece of Escher art. I remember it frustrating me deeply and I didn't like being there.
The lower level was one room filled with mismatched old furniture, flowers, house plants, bowls of candy, quilts, doilies, crocheted afghans, weaved rug throws from left over material, shelves with nick knacks, warm beverages on the tables and photos of old people. I felt relieved to be there and I didn't want to leave.
I woke up feeling sad that my home didn't look and feel like that.
It also reminded me of Grandma Betty - Content, warm, peaceful and comfortable.
